Mr. Lafferty has served the Christiana community as the principal at Christiana Elementary for 3 years. The school was designated by the state of Tennessee as a “Reward” school for 2021-2022. A native of rural Eastern Kentucky, Mr. Lafferty graduated from Morehead State University where he majored in Music Education. It was during this time that he performed with the Kentucky Opry at the Mountain Arts Center while teaching young musicians and vocalists from across the state. After moving to Tennessee in 2003, he accepted a position teaching music at Lipscomb Elementary. In 2008, he moved to Spring Hill and taught at Longview Elementary in Williamson County where he was named Teacher of the Year in 2009-2010.  In 2010-2011, after earning his Master of Administration and Supervision at Tennessee State, he became the Assistant Principal at Barfield Elementary for 9 years.
He is in the final stages of attaining his Doctoral degree with a focus on Teacher Leadership and Digital Learning.

Mr. Lafferty and his wife (LaShea) have two boys, Braxton and Colton.

Mrs. Angela Barnes

Mrs. Angela Barnes, Assistant Principal of Christiana Elementary, began her career in education at Walterhill Elementary in 1996 where she taught Special Education for 18 years. In addition to her teaching duties at Walterhill, Mrs. Barnes served on the Leadership Team and the Special Education Lead Teacher. Ms. Barnes has worked as an Instructional Coach and Program Specialist in Special Education for RCS. Most recently she served as the Supervisor of Exceptional Education for Wilson County Schools.

 

Mrs. Barnes earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education, and a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision both from Middle Tennessee State University.

 

She and her husband (Joe) have three children (Mathew, Arrabella, and Jackson).  Mrs. Barnes enjoys spending time with family, making jewelry, traveling, and working with children at her church.

 

Mrs. Barnes is excited to begin her new journey as a Christiana Wildcat! She looks forward to building relationships with students, faculty, and families. She is committed to whole child student growth and development.
