Hello! Christiana Elementary Families,
This is Chris Lafferty, Principal,
WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL WILDCATS! On Thursday, August 6th, we will have our 5th annual “Popsicles on the Pavilion” brought to you by the CES PAC and Wilson Bank and Trust. VPK and Kindergarten students can pick up a popsicle and students in grades 1-2 can meet their teachers at the pavilion on the big playground at the back of our building from 4:30-5:15 pm. Students in grades 3-5 will meet their teachers at the pavilion from 5:15-6 pm. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we will move the event to the gym. VPK and Kindergarten students may attend and meet their teacher team, but since we are in the process of completing Kindergarten screenings, rolls will not be determined until Kindergarten Orientation for Kindergarten which is scheduled for August 7th at 1:00pm. If not already determined, phase-in days will also be assigned.
Families attending Kindergarten Orientation must show photoID and will pass through our Weapons Detection System as they are entering the building. Some items that we have noticed that cause alarms are glasses cases, excessive metal on keychains, eyelash curlers, tablets, and steel-toe boots. Weapons of any kind are prohibited. Remember that cellphones and car keys do not usually set off the towers.
A reminder that our CES teachers did not return to the building until August 3rd and started off the year by completing both district and building-level professional development. Teachers have started contacting families to notify them of placements. Class placements for grades 1-5 will continue through August 6th. If you have not heard from your teacher about your child’s placement by August 6th at our “popsicles” event, there will be staff available to help find your placement.
Our first 2hr Registration Day is on August 7th. School begins that day at 7:30 am and ends at 9:30 am. Remember to arrange for an early pick-up time that day. Should there be a need to enter the building with your student, photoID and passage through the Weapons Detection System is required as we will have students on our campus. Weapons Detection Systems will be located at our Car rider entrance or at the top of the ramp by the front playground with the silver slide. At 7:28am, the Weapons Detection system will be transported to our front doors as the Car Rider entrance will be locked.
Please complete the student data registration in Synergy. We appreciate your patience as we have transitioned to the new system. A shout-out to our wonderful front office staff who have done an amazing job assisting families as we move to a new student information system!
Please go to the CES and RCS websites for the most current information about this year’s return to school. We can’t wait to see our Wildcat students and kick off the 2026-27 school year! …and GO Wildcats!
