Angela Hays » Welcome!

Welcome!

Welcome bilingual and multilingual students and families!
We celebrate students who speak more than one language in our class!

I am Angela Hays, the teacher for English as a Second Language (ESL). Our amazing students go to school in a language other than their first language. They are learning English while still maintaining their home language. We celebrate this amazing skill!

This is my seventh year as a teacher, and my fifth year as a teacher in Rutherford County Schools. I have lived in Murfreesboro for 26 years and love it here! I went to Belmont University for my undergraduate degree in broadcasting, journalism and music business. After 15 years as a communication professional, and 14 years as a small-business owner teaching cooking and selling Pampered Chef kitchen tools, I decided to become a schoolteacher! In 2020 at Lipscomb University, I earned my Masters of Education in Instructional Practice with a concentration on English Language Learners. I especially love working with immigrant students and their families to help them to be successful in their new life in America.

I have been married 33 years. I have twin sons who are 23-years-old and a daughter who is in 11th grade. I love iced coffee, ice cream, homemade bread and barbecue chicken pizza. I love good movies, especially historical biographies, science fiction, fantasy, and superhero films. I love to write, and sometimes I get the pleasure of editing fiction written by friends. I am a past co-president of the Murfreesboro Parents of Multiples Club, and I'm very active with my church, St. Elizabeth Orthodox Church in Murfreesboro.
