About Mrs. Vetter

My name is Lora Vetter, and this is teaching year number 35 for me. My whole teaching career has been here at Christiana Elementary. I taught special education for my first 8 years, and I have spent the last 26 years working with some fabulous third graders.
I grew up in East Tennessee and graduated from Rockwood High School and Roane State Community College in Roane County. I finished my education at MTSU with bachelor's degrees in psychology, special education, and elementary education. I received my master's degree in reading from MTSU, as well.
I have been married to my husband, Barry, for 35 years. He recently retired from Rutherford County Schools and is currently the pitching coach for the baseball team at Sewanee - The University of the South. We have 2 super sweet daughters: Holly is 29 years old and works as an associate account executive for the Swim Digital Group. She has been happily married since September 2019 to a wonderful man named Logan, parents a beautiful hound dog named Oakley, and is expecting their first child in November. Kenzi just turned 24 and is beginning her second year as a middle school teacher in Lebanon, TN. She has been happily married to a special man named Wesley since May 2022, and he is also beginning his second year as a middle school teacher. They have a bouncing doodle named Silver.
I love, love, love watching sports and taking pictures of my family. Traveling to Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando are #1 and #2 on my list of favorite places to go, but I also enjoy trips to the beach, Vegas, and back home to East Tennessee. My husband and I have begun the task of seeing which major league baseball parks we can visit and enjoy each year. While at home, I love binge watching superhero movies on Netflix, relaxing on the back porch swing, and reading detective/crime books. Some of my favorite things include the colors green and orange, frogs, Diet Mountain Dew, chocolate cashews, Cheetos, eating at Cheddars, and shopping on Amazon.
Aside from spending time with my family, I cannot think of anywhere else I'd rather be than in my classroom with my students. I would say that is why I haven't retired yet.
